AutoZone Partners with Lions BrightSight to Bring the Gift of Sight to Communities

At AutoZone, we believe in driving change, not just on the roads but in the lives of people across South Africa. That is why we are proud to announce our new partnership with Lions BrightSight, an incredible organisation that provides low cost corrective spectacles to people in need throughout South Africa and neighbouring states.

Helping South Africa See Clearly

Starting in December, 2025, all of our AutoZone branches nationwide will have Lions BrightSight Collection Boxes where customers can drop off their used or unwanted spectacle frames.

Every donated frame will be refurbished and distributed to someone who cannot afford vision correction, helping thousands or people see more clearly, work more effectively, and live brighter, more independent lives.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Lions BrightSight on such a meaningful project,”said Krystle Stewien, AutoZone Marketing Manager. “Good vision can change everything. It impacts education, employment, and everyday quality of life. By simply donating an old pair of glasses, our customers can help someone regain their independence and confidence. We are honoured to be part of that transformation.”

To thank customers for their generosity, everyone who donates a pair of spectacles will receive a Knights of the Blind pin from Lions BrightSight as a small token of appreciation for helping give the gift of sight, while stocks last.

Changing Lives, One Pair of Glasses at a Time

Lions BrightSight Chairman, Cliff Hocking, shared his gratitude for the partnership, saying “Lions BrightSight extends heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at AutoZone for their exceptional generosity and genuine interest in the work we do. Our sincerest thanks go to the management and staff of AutoZone for their invaluable support. Without the help of compassionate partners like AutoZone, many individuals in desperate need would continue to live with impaired vision that is, in many cases, easily correctable. Together, we are helping to bring clearer sight and brighter futures to countless lives.”

About Lions BrightSight

Lions BrightSight was first established in 1974 as a multi club collaborative project in the Transvaal. In 1991, the South African Lions leadership passed a resolution to make it a national project, helping Lions Clubs and other organisations address vision related needs in their communities.

Today, Lions BrightSight provides low cost corrective spectacles to people in need throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries. Since its inception, the organisation has distributed countless thousands of spectacles to those who do not have access to mainstream eye care services, restoring not only sight, but dignity and opportunity.

How You Can Help

From December, simply visit your nearest AutoZone, find the Lions BrightSight Collection Box, and drop in your old frames. Your small act of kindness can help someone see a whole new world.
