For the first time in the events history, the Formula E races into the streets of Cape Town on the 25th February 2023. Cape Town will be the fifth race of the season – following the inaugural Hyderabad e-Prix in India and just ahead of the race in São Paulo, Brazil, in March.

The race will start next to Green Point Stadium on Vlei road, making its way through the Green Point and Waterfront districts. The route itself spans over a 2.8km radius, which sets the scene for one of the quickest tracks on the Formula E calendar. There are a total of 12 turns throughout the track, which opens up countless overtaking possibilities to add to the thrill of the event.

The race will also be an opportunity to showcase the Formula E’s new Gen3 cars, which are set to make their debut for the 2022/23 season. The Gen3’s will be the quickest cars the Formula E has ever seen – with top speeds reaching up to 322km/h compared to the 280km/h produced by the Gen 2’s. The vehicles are powered by an electric motor that produces 350kw of power, with a newfound powertrain allowing for 600kw of regenerative power.
